Padma Bhushan Dr. K.K. Kler is a celebrated figure in Indian cardiology with a distinguished career that spans over 37 years. Renowned for his expertise, he has performed more than 35,000 procedures, including coronary, renal, carotid, and peripheral angioplasties. His dedication to advancing cardiac care has been evident since the early years of his career when he pioneered electrophysiology in India by establishing the country’s first specialized department in this field. His efforts laid the groundwork for advanced cardiac treatments, setting new standards in patient care and interventional cardiology.
Dr. Kler’s contributions are not only pioneering but also transformative, as he introduced critical cardiac technologies to India. He was the first physician in the country to implant devices like ICDs, CRT-Ps, and CRT-Ds, and he performed the nation’s first HIS Bundle Pacing procedure in 2015. Beyond India, Dr. Kler extended his expertise to Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, helping to establish Cardiac Device Implantation and RF ablation programs in these regions.
